After staying at your Inn several times over the course of the past decade (or more...) I can certainly say you've crafted quite an establishment, and that personal care and kindness has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you for offering this safe little haven in the city.

I spent two years in Corpus Christi - a newly minted PhD and a lesbian. My experience there was so full of overt homophobia - something I never experienced before, and never really believed I would experience. I left, found a job elsewhere, but the experienced changed me for both better and also, I suppose for worse. I found comfort in you Mr. McNally. I fantasized many many times about writing you a letter of my time in corpus crhsit. I am a little embarassed to say I felt, and still do, that I want to write you a letter, tell you of that time, and for you to simply say 'Yes, I get it. They were wrong".

Hi Jay,

At this very moment a group of gifted artists (many of them New Yorkers) are preparing to bring "Tales of the City" to the musical stage in San Francisco, so the timing of your blog is serendipitous. It's thrilling to know that Mrs. Madrigal helped to inspire one of Chelsea's most treasured institutions. There's been many a time when I've wished someone would tape a joint to my door in NYC -- so now I know where to go. (Just kidding, Mr. Bloomberg) Thanks for making me feel part of your rich history by telling this tale of Sheldon's dream. May Chelsea Pines continue to thrive and bring joy to the free spirits who are lucky enough to discover it.

Warm regards,

Armistead

beautiful tom....brings a huge smile to my face to think of all the good that has been achieved over all of these years...of course there is still much sadness about the ones we lost but they too are smiling, ever so pleased with the allevation of ignorance, and the pain and suffering it caused (physically and mentally)...many thanks are owed to people like you who have dedicated so much of their lives to seeing "liberty and justice for all"...big big hugs to my own personal hero.....
