The New York Times
Perfectly situated for traipsing around Chelsea, the Meatpacking District and the West Village. Light fixtures, tiled walls and faux metallic floor looked new. The water pressure was good, too. Gilchrist & Soames toiletries further freshened things up.
The greatest amenity was the staff, which was flawlessly welcoming and helpful. It does offer what many pricier hotels can’t seem to get a grip on: local calls and Wi-Fi at no extra charge. Continental breakfast (included) is served in the downstairs breakfast room and new solarium, in addition to 24-hour coffee, tea and Oreos and chocolate chip cookies.
In terms of novelty, coziness and price, it’s hard to beat! Book early. It took several calls before a room opened up.

“I feel like I discovered a hidden gem. Great value, great accommodations, great location, great service.
Charlie was a delightful ambassador I’m telling everyone I know that this is the place to stay while in NYC.”
“The best kept secret in NYC! What a great time the three girls from TN had in December!!!!! We will never stay any place else!!!!! Great presentation Jay!!!”
“We spent 4 nights in the lovely, charming and cosy room dedicated to Debbie Reynolds. Chelsea Pines’ staff was very kind, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed great morning breakfasts in the hotel’s kitchen, lovely idea. And we loved the big cat Charlie too! Chelsea Pines is just few seconds walk from the nearest subway station, and almost everything in New York can be reached in a very short time.”
“My stay at the Chelsea Pines Inn was the most Amazing Surprise! This was my 1st time staying here and I was greeted with such Warmth and Love. Thank you to Jay, Troy, Rumel, the entire staff and of course, Charlie! You made my 50th Birthday extra extra special! Thank you to my new friends in NYC!”
“I miss CPI — It always feel like I’m coming home when I walk through the front door.”
“The place is so cute- each room decked out in it’s own actor/actress posters. The decorating was stylish and the bathrooms were nice. Also very clean and the rooms were spacious… The staff was friendly and helpful- excited to tell us about the local restaurants and give directions… The price was right too.”
“The Chelsea Pines is my very favorite place to stay while visiting NYC. Although the location, comfort and details (beds, sheets, towels, lighting, decor) are exceptional, the real value of the Pines is in the terrific people who staff the place with warmth, friendly and humorous attitude and a thorough knowledge of the city. If you know NYC, you’ll be happy at the Pines, and if you are new to NYC, you’ll get to know it at the Pines in a very comfortable manner. Plus, the location is ideal for exploring the city with ease!”

Fantastic, affordable place to stay in NY City
“This was the perfect place to stay for my NYC visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure my needs were met. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. I loved the movie-theme of each room and the movie posters in the hallways. The location is great – I love the Chelsea neighborhood, and the hotel is only about one-third of a block from the subway station. I will definitely return to this hotel for my next NYC trip.”
A Home away from home
“From the warm and helpful voice at time of booking to the friendly greeting when I arrived my stay at the Chelsea Pines Inn was a great delight!!! To have created such a charming place with a professional but friendly and warm staff!! Jay Lesiger gets a standing ovation.”
This is where I will stay whenever I can when I am in NYC!
“This is where I will stay whenever I can when I am in NYC!! I can’t tell you how nice it is after so many years of travel to the big apple that I finally found a place that feels like warm apple pie! The boys at the front desk are lovely and accommodating, Charlie the cat purred with satisfaction, and the breakfast was just like home. My sweetly decorated room was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect, walking distance from meat packing, Chelsea, Tribeca. Thanks Chelsea Pines Inn…I’ll be back! Love you guys!”
Excellent location and helpful staff!
“Excellent location and helpful staff! Chelsea Pines is a great place to rest your head during you New York visit. Located 3 stops from Times Square, walking distance to the Meat Packing district and Greenwich Village. Very central, great for tourists. The staff is also very friendly and kind, helping us make the most of our visit. They offered excellent dining recommendations and assisted with all of our ‘tourist’ needs. The owner is a gem! ”
A Fantastic place to stay!
“We had a wonderful week in New York and it was made all the more wonderful by the hospitality of Jay and all his staff at the Chelsea Pines . They were very friendly and made my wife and me feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotlessly clean and serviced daily. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen area on the ground floor was always well stocked with tea, coffee, bagles and cakes. A nice touch was the daily newsletter slipped under the door every morning. Just a few minutes walk from the subway on W14th St and close to Chelsea Markets, Chelsea Pier and of course the cafes and bars of The Village.”
“This is one of those places that you like so much that you don’t want to write a review about it, because you are scared that too many people will find out about it…”
“I went there on business, but together with my partner so it was both business and pleasure.”
“We often travel to the US and usually stay in 4-5 star hotels- which in New York can be very small and very over priced. A friend recommended this and we decided to try it out. The guesthouse is very basic – but done up with love. What makes it so special is the attention to detail and the warm and welcoming staff. We were recommended wonderful restaurants, and the reception helped us make booking for everything we needed. Often when in the States one feels that the “service culture” is just about “how much will I be tipped for doing this”, but I can honestly say that this was one of the few places in New York, where it felt that the staff wanted us to be happy with our stay and they did everything to make sure that we enjoyed our stay.”
“We will definitely use this as our place to stay in the future.”
“It also has a business centre with a printer and wireless internet in all the rooms, so perfect for business travelers as well.”
Incredible Place to Stay
“Fabulous place! It is a great location, a block from Chelsea Market and the High Line and 1/2 a block from a subway station. You could not ask for a better location. The hotel is a quaint place which you just don’t always find in Manhattan. Be aware that there is no elevator which is definitely not a deal breaker, but something to consider after all the walking you do in New York. The staff is friendly and helpful; helping us figure out how to navigate the subways and offered some wonderful dining recommendations close to the hotel. We tried several and they were spot on. We cannot wait to come back to New York and this is where we will be staying.”
